With funding assistance from the Montana Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Commission and the Circle of Tribal Advisors, the Blackfeet Tribe is hosting a four-day symposium on the Blackfeet Reservation.
Download the Agenda (3.7 Mb .pdf file) for Lewis & Clark in Blackfeet Country Symposium The symposium will provide a setting for local perspectives on the expedition that traversed through Blackfeet Country 200 years ago and culturally related activities throughout the four days. The host site will be the mini arbor next to the Museum of the Plains Indian, located at the Junction of US Highway 2 and Montana 89 in Browning.Camp Disappointment historic site is marked by a monument erected by the Great Northern Railway in 1925 and a sign at milepost 233 on US Highway 2 between Browning and Cut Bank, which is four miles directly south of the actual camp site reached on July 23, 1806. The Two Medicine Fight Site, where Lewis encountered members of the Blackfeet Tribe (Pikuni), is about 25 miles southeast of Browning on the eastern edge of the Blackfeet Indian Reservation.
