A Taste of Lewis and Clark
August 26-29, 2005
Bonneville Lock & Dam

A Taste of Lewis and Clark will take you back to the Expedition period of 1803-06 with authentic encampments by living history re-enactors portraying members of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. American Indian Nations will be on hand to tell their stories and share their cultures. Included will be entertainment, music, merchandise and food of the period. Fife & Drum parades and town criers will add a historic festive touch to the event.

The musical group "Odyssey West" featuring jack Gladstone (Blackfeet Indian) and Rob Quist(Montana Cowboy) will provide a contemporary music and multimedia perspective. A special performance about the African-American slave "York' performed by Hasan Davis will move you to see history in a new light. The stories of Sacagawea, Pierre Cruzatte and other members of the Expedition will also be told in engaging and entertaining ways.

Michael Haynes' painting exhibition "Drawn Through Time" will depict the Expedition. Michael is nationally acclaimed and is known for his detailed accuracy and unique style. A film festival showcasing the best of Lewis & Clark films will be running throughout the event and will include behind the scenes "making of the film" by the producers.

Special VIP after-hours "around the campfire" activities will provide and intimate connection with the "members" of the Expedition and American Indians..... a unique opportunity to share cultures, food and song.

"Taste of Lewis & Clark" events are hosted by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Sponsors will underwrite activities which are free to the public. Proceeds from food and merchandise sales will benefit Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center and the Northwest Interpretive Association.
