A Seattle Post-Intelligencer Special Series: Into the Northwest
Follow along as the Bicentennial Commemoration makes it's way Into the Northwest by reading and viewing images from this special online series by Pulitzer Prize winning editorial cartoonist and columnist, David Horsey. Horsey relays his experiences through prose, photography and his wonderful cartoons, as he encounters: re-enactors, Native American Nations, treks through mountain ranges, and navigation through the Columbia River valley on the way to the Pacific.
Special Coverage by The Columbian - Vancouver, WA
The Columbian will mark 37 of the Corps of Discovery's days in the Oregon-Washington area with stories and vignettes about the explorers, one published each day through their arrival at the ocean. The coverage will include the national bicentennial commemoration called "Destination: the Pacific," Nov. 11-15, based at Ilwaco and Astoria, Ore. The Columbian's coverage will resume Nov. 28-Dec. 11 when a big national exhibit called Corps of Discovery II comes to Vancouver.
